Sport and Medical Sciences Academy

Hartford's Sport and Medical Sciences Academy is a magnet school built in the shadow of the old Colt factory.  In the summer, the school hosts an elite basketball program in the main gym.

This school was one of four in the City of Hartford named one of the best high schools in America by U.S. News & World Report.  The school attained this ranking by producing conspicuously better results than would be expected for the demographics in the school system.  This is SMSA's fourth successive year in the rankings.  For a poor city like Hartford, with a high concentration of low income students, this is an achievement worth trumpeting.

So, I did.

Nice trumpeting. Love all the windows and bright colors --- much different from my old high school.

Whenever a school serves its students well, it should be applauded far and wide. You're doing a great job of recognizing it. Carry on!!

It certainly is worth trumpeting! I'm glad you did. I also have to say that I love the modern, colorful entrance to this building. It makes you want to enter.

What a great looking building Jack and well deserving of the accolades by the sound of it. I've been catching up on posts I missed while in Sydney, love all the art inspired images, really like the picture you called 'ebony and ivory martial arts' super harmony. Must admit it's definitely possible I'd miss my plane messing around with the 'red umbrella' wall games.
I didn't take many pictures at all Jack, I didn't want to be distracted and miss a moment of the ceremony.

What a terrific achievement indeed, Jack! It's always great to read/learn about places, and schools in particular, like this! Besides that, it's delightfully colorful!! Love your capture as always!

Very cheerful building and interesting information.

You are the second person this week to mention what is happening on my blog when you click on it. Thank you for letting me know. The thing is I don't see it as my computer must automatically blocks it. I've already done a few things trying to stop it but I guess it's not enough... I have to talk to someone who knows. This is really annoying, I'm sorry.
